About The Game

Darwinia was conceived as a virtual amusement park inhabited by intelligent organisms – Darwinians. Alas, everything went to pieces when control over Darwinia was seized by a computer virus and shamelessly began to multiply there. Your task is to destroy the infection and save the poor digital people from certain death. Alas, you cannot command them directly, but you can influence the environment by launching Programs in time – for example, the program of Engineers or Platoons, which can be given instructions using them as a weapon.

Darwinia is a truly unique game that cannot be attributed to any one genre. The main gameplay combines elements of strategy, action, puzzle, and even a god simulator. The 10000th Anniversary Edition is a completely rewritten version of the original game in honor of the 10,000th anniversary of the world of Darwinia in 2022, in order to ensure compatibility with modern graphics APIs, improve performance while reducing power consumption (which increases gameplay time on laptops and other portable devices, such as Steam Deck), add a number of improvements and fix many bugs.
The distribution also contains the original game ( darwinia_legacy * , without Vulkan support and with Russian localization).
Multiplayer is not provided in the game, but by making changes to the preferences.txt file, you can connect from multiple computers to one game. However, only one unit can be selected at a time. This behavior has only been tested on version 1.4.2.
