About The Game

Kentucky Route Zero is a five-act magical realism game with catchy electronic music, as well as a set of anthems and bluegrass melodies from The Bedquilt Ramblers. This story is about unpaid debts, an unrealizable future and people looking for a place in society. The game’s stunning visuals are inspired by theatre, films and experimental electronic art as much as they are from the history of video games.

As dusk approaches in Kentucky, birdsong gives way to a chorus of frogs and insects, familiar roads become less familiar, and it’s easy to get lost. And those who are already lost can get on a secret highway that runs through a system of underground caves. The people who live and work along this road seem a little strange at first, but you soon get used to them – an aging freight forwarder carrying the last order of a closing antique store, a girl fixing old TVs surrounded by ghosts, a boy and his huge eagle friend, robots – musicians, invisible, but invisibly watching everything and the entire energy company, as well as small communities living out their lives, struggling with their own extinction with the last of their strength.
