About The Game
Garry’s Mod is a modification on the Half-Life 2 first-person shooter engine. How to Download & Install Garry’s Mod Linux Game
- Click the Download link below and you should already have installed a download client on your system.
- Notification will pop and say “that our site wants to open this application”. Click the button to open the client to let the download begin and wait for it to finish.
- Once Game Garry’s Mod for linux is done downloading, Extract (Unzip) “*******.tar.gz” -if you encounter this file- (To do this you must know how extract .tar.gz Files using Linux Command Line here).
- Right click the ./start.sh, select “Properties”, go to the “Permissions” tab, mark the file as executable. Then just treat it more or less like one of those Setup.exe’s on Windows. Double-click it to run it.

How do you install addons? When I put an unpacked addon (not a gma) into GarrysMod/game/garrysmod/addons and boot up the game, it doesn’t work. I also try adding addons the way the Goldberg Steam Emulator does it, but I get errors saying the addon failed to download.
Mods must be placed in the game/garrysmod/addons directory, the name of the directory with the mod must necessarily consist of its steamid.
OK, I think it’s because that I was using an old 2021 version. I updated, and it works fine now. You don’t need to have the name of the folder the steam id, it just needs to be lowercase.
